About the author
Montgomery J. Granger is a three times mobilized retired major in the US Army Reserve, who served as the ranking US Army Medical Department officer with the Joint Detainee Operations Group, Joint Task Force 160, at the US military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, from FEB-JUN 2002. Major Granger, a captain at the time, was responsible for helping to coordinate and manage medical, preventive medical and environmental services for the detention operation at Camp X-Ray and then later at Camp Delta. Major Granger kept a journal while at Gitmo and wrote a memoir based on his experiences there after becoming frustrated with all the fake news and lies told about the place and those who served there. His story is a real story about the emotions of leaving his family just months after the horrors of 9/11, and then being duty bound to care for those responsible for the September 11, 2001, attacks. Major granger is a retired educator of 36 years and retired from the military in 2008, after 22 years of service. He lives on Long Island, NY with his wife of 31 years, and their five children, ages 29-16.
